Eco-Cruise Cayuga Lake!
On the Cayuga Lake Floating Classroom
Instructors from the Cayuga Lake Floating Classroom Project will host free water monitoring demonstrations aboard the M/V Haendel between 3:00pm and 6:00pm during Lansing Harbor Festival, Saturday, August 23. The M/V Haendel will also sail from the Myers Point Marina for a one-hour public lake monitoring cruise, from 4:00pm to 5:00pm. The cruise will be limited to 28 persons. A $5-$10 donation is requested for the cruise to help support educational programming. Come and see how much fun you can have getting to know Cayuga Lake!
The Cayuga Lake Floating Classroom is sponsored by local governments and non-profit partners around Cayuga Lake. In keeping with its mission to enhance the relationship between communities and Cayuga Lake, the Floating Classroom hosts classes, community groups and camps from May to November each year. Participants conduct science-based lake monitoring activities, often in connection with explorations of art or local history and culture. Saturday’s cruise will feature deep water and ecological monitoring activities near the mouth of Salmon Creek, along with an informal discussion of the health of Cayuga Lake.
